Get Mean, the new LP by Boy Harsher, is up for discussion on this week’s episode. We’re talking about the record’s shift away from the oft-imitated sound pioneered by the duo, its releases on a major label, and the new metrics by which its sound and songwriting need to be evaluated. As always, you can rate and subscribe on iTunes, download directly, or listen through the widget down below.
I pretty much agree – not bad at all, but too easy to drift off as it plays in the background. Maybe their (relationship) breakup make them slightly sunnier!
A throughline to this album, especially with a song like “Jeans”, would be last year’s Safe Mind album, which was a collab between Augustus and Cooper B. Handy. It is more enjoyable than Get Mean, but certainly should’ve presaged this shift.
Left the comment mid-podcast. Guess you addressed Safe Mind. What I get for jumping the gun, eh? NM
