Blanck Mass is amazing, especially the the debut self-titled LP. Which a monolithic, though delicately textured, slab of sound (if you don’t know it you must check it), I can also see the ant-zen connection you highlight, though particularly more so with this and to a lesser degree the previous album. I’ve often thought about the relationship/connection of bands like blanck mass (to which we can add tons more, like; Ben Frost, Rolly Porter, emptyset, Tim Hecker, Fennesz, Mika Vainio, Alessandro Cortini, Shapednoise, Ron Morelli…the list is endless) to what is generally regarded as “true industrial music”. In my opinion, the most interesting industrial music has for a number of years now been coming from outside the industrial community. Blanck mass being one of them.
